Zach Neto Bio
Zach Neto is the starting shortstop for the LA Angels. He was selected by the Angels in the first-round of the 2022 MLB Baseball Draft (#13 overall). Zach is a native of Miami, Florida, and attended Campbell University (NC), where he was named a 2022 Perfect Game All-American. He was called up to the Major Leagues on April 15, 2023, making him the first member of the 2022 draft class to debut in the big leagues.
In 2023, Zach earned the Major League Players Alumni Association Heart and Hustle Award for the LA Angels, which honors active players who demonstrate a passion for the game of baseball and best embody the values, spirit and traditions of the game. He was also the Angels’ 2023 and 2024 nominee for the Bob Feller Act of Valor Award, which is given annually to a current MLB player, recognizing their support of U.S. military service members and veterans & their active involvement and leadership in their community.
In 2024, Zach established himself as one of the premier players in the Major Leagues and achieved several historic milestones, including becoming the first Angels’ infielder ever to have a 20/20 season (20 home runs & 20 stolen bases), the fourth Angels’ player ever with 20+ HR & 30+ SB in a season and set the Angels franchise record for HRs in a single season by a shortstop. He finished with 23 HRs and 30 SBs, and was voted Angels MVP by his teammates, which is awarded annually to a player who exemplifies leadership, sportsmanship and professional ability.
Zach is passionate about giving back to the community and especially causes that benefit children. This bowling tournament will benefit the Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, which is based in South Florida and provides incredible pediatric medical services, resources and support for patients and their families from all over the country. For more information about the hospital, visit www.jdch.com. Zach’s parents, Joaquin and Maggie Neto, are avid bowlers and frequently play in bowling leagues at Bird Bowl, so they are excited to host this fundraiser event at this great venue.
